Where Dreams Begin is another sweet and sexy tale of romance. Lady Holland has been a widow for three years, but she's still in mourning for her late husband. Then one night at a ball, a stranger in the dark mistakes her for another woman and they share a remarkable kiss. Zachary is the star of a rags to riches story, building a fortune to rival any peer in London, but no one wants to accept him into society. In order to get close to Holly after their kiss, he decides to higher her as a kind of social guide for him and his family. Holly has her work cut out for her upon arriving at his mansion. Zachary is very rough around the edges, his sister is as graceful as a lame chicken, and their mother is having trouble accepting her new station in life. Plus, there's the servants who know their employers have no clue what they're doing and take advantage.

I adore these kind of make-over stories and Where Dreams Begin is a cute one. Zachary was a prizefighter before he earned his considerable wealth, and he hasn't let go of that rough young man yet. But with some coaching from Holly, he's on track to becoming a true gentlemen and catching himself a bride. Although, the only woman he wants is Holly, but he's convinced that she needs someone more calm and gentle like her husband was. However, Holly also undergoes a transformation while helping the Bronsons. She's the perfect picture of a lady, but her grief and a promise to her husband is holding her back from actually living her life. Zachary brings out the more carefree side of her, and shows her that it's okay to move on, and to stop wearing gray all the time!

I really liked Where Dreams Begin, but the last couple of chapters felt unnecessary. I think they could have been left out entirely, or condensed into an epilogue, since they really added nothing to Holly and Zachary's story. Their reunion was quite perfect and it would have been a great ending. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Zachary's sister, Elizabeth toward the end, since I really liked her!

This was one of the first stories of Lisa Klepyas that I read, and it captivated me from the first pages. Her proposal seemed so attractive and interesting to me

Zachary is a commoner. He came from the lower neighborhoods and literally opened its way through life using his fists, wit and sagacity. Fiercely protective and a generous provider for his family (mother and sister), he has made his fortune by smartly investing his profits from the former fights, and now forces the high society (that despises him) to open their doors because he has the money they need.

And it is in one of those balls that he accidentally "meet" (there is no introduction, instead there is a wonderful kiss!) the heroine...

Holly was born in the upper class and although she has lived a sheltered and protected life, that does not mean that her existence has been exempt from pain and loss. Our heroine is a woman who loved deeply and tragically lost her husband. From that beautiful relationship was born a daughter to whom she has decided to dedicate herself completely.

What I like most about this story is that neither the H nor the h realize that both are perfect for each other. But Kleypas, in a masterly way, shows us all the way that both walk until culminate in one of the most emotional HEA I have ever read.

This book is a standalone, therefore, it does not belong to any series. What makes it even more special.
I'm a huge fan of Lisa Kleypas and since I've read every single one of her historical romances, I'm now back to re-reading many of them. In this moving tale we meet the widowed Lady Holly and Zachary Bronson, a self-made wealthy commoner. Zachary is a brawny, ex-pugilist and a little bad, while Holly was beautiful, strait-laced, and entirely good. Although different in every way, these two were utterly adorable together. Both found in the other what was missing in themselves, their other half and soul mate. This story touched me emotionally and their undying love choked me up and had me near bawling towards the unforgettable conclusion.

While I loved the hero and heroine and thought this was a beautiful romance about true love, there were a few things that kept it from being perfect. First of all, Holly's devotion to her dead husband got to be a bit much and started to annoy me. There's also nothing really keeping them apart except for their own insecurities. Then there were times where I thought the story lagged somewhat, but when they finally got together I was thrilled. The things Zachary says and does for Holly are truly lovely. It's not my favorite by LK, but still a very good read I'd definitely recommend. I enjoyed it the first time around and the second was no exception =)
